Riverview Ranch & Resort
Campfire
Safety, Fun, Family, Friends
“SFFF”
Campfire is not a place to goof around. It is a sincere effort to help our guests and visitors find significance, acceptance, and genuine caring to goof around. Safely.
There's Just Something About a Campfire
Staring into burning embers one can become transfixed by the almost imperceptible change that is happening. We are more open to connecting with other people. We can share more deeply as we gaze at the disappearing firebrands. Campfires are mesmerizing.
Our Mission
To provide a place where people can find peace, humor, warmth, truth, and caring, for themselves, for animals, for nature, and for others.
A campfire slowly dies if it is untended, much like peace, truth, love, and laughter. At campfire, we can tend to one another's needs by showing that we care for them, by spending quality time with them, and by laughing with them.

Overnight Guests
Private Experience
Guests may have a campfire any time they want, weather permitting, for no extra charge.
Ask Wrangler Roger for assistance.

The Wind
Fires are not allowed if the wind is, or is forecast to be, blowing toward the barn at more than 3 mph (patio) or 5 mph (outdoor arena). Fires are not allowed if the wind is, or is forecast to be, blowing any direction at more than 10 mph. Wrangler Roger will make the judgment call about whether fires are permitted. Wind normally dies down as the sun sets.
Check Winds and Weather Forecast at the ranch. This shows the NOAA generated weather forecast chart for Riverview Ranch. It is quite accurate. Radar Chart.

Campfire Songs
By Roger That!
Roger That! will play some songs at Rhythm and Ride events. If guests would like him to play at a private campfire just ask. If he is not too busy he is happy to join guests at campfire.

Marshmallow Roasting
Hot Dogs, Steaks, Chicken etc.
We have wooden skewers for hot dogs and Marshmallows. Just throw them in the fire when finished with them. We have a grate over the fire pit you can grill on. There are two grocery stores in Galena, 15 minutes drive away.

Roger That! will tell you his spooky stories after the night becomes really dark. Let him know if your kids scare easily and he will adjust. Ask for “Harry the Hairy Ape,” “Sir Thanks A Lot,” or “Quasimoto’s Replacement.” We encourage kids to make up stories to tell too.
We encourage Dad Jokes at campfire. If you don’t have any of your own – check out our archive of dad jokes.
Harry The Hairy Ape
A strange thing happened the other night. . .

Strange Sightings
Do You believe in Ghosts?
If you look closely at this picture, which was taken at a ranch campfire, you will see some spooky looking figures in the distance. These strange sightings have never been scientifically explained.

Chocolate is Poisonous to Dogs
Please do not leave smores laying around
We do not offer smore’s for our Rhythm and Ride events because we don’t want our dogs to get sick. If you bring your own chocolate please be careful not to leave any laying around where our dogs might find it.
